For PASA, foot and ankle health is a priority: as part of its public service mission the association works closely with the footwear industry to help design and approve safe, functional footwear for consumers.

In order to earn PASA approval, shoes have to conform to stringent standards and must be designed, manufactured and tested for optimum fit and function. These qualities reduce the incidence of certain foot problems as encountered by podiatrists: the PASA tag on footwear verifies PASA approval and helps direct customers to product information and foot-health education resources.
